VI International Congress "The Process of Independence in Latin America is part of a series of biennial meetings for more than a decade foster specialists in this subject. These events are an international forum which discussed the different approaches and historical interpretations about the Independence in Latin America.
The first of these meetings took place in the city of Morelia, Mexico, in 1999, organized by the College of Michoacán and the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico. Subsequent meetings were held at the University of Zulia (Maracaibo, Venezuela, 2002), the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain, 2004), Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia, 2006) and the University Veracruz (Mexico, 2008).
The Sixth Congress is already confirmed participation, among others, internationally renowned professionals as Geraldo Luiz da Silva (Brazil), Juan Andreo (Spain), Brian Hamnett
( UK), Ternavasio Marcela (Argentina) Catalina Reyes (Colombia), José Antonio Serrano (Mexico), Carlos Contreras (Peru), Inés Quintero (Venezuela), Juan Marchena (Spain), Juan Ortiz
(Mexico), Gustavo Paz (Argentina), Ivan Fraser ( Spain), Luis Jauregui (Mexico) and Martha Teran (Mexico).
1. Historiography of the Independence. Balance, current and new proposals for study and research.
2. The causes of the Independence.
3. The Political Cultures: Many political figures, few references doctrinal? Liberalism, republicanism, conservatism ...
4. The "revolutionary" war: economic, social, political, cultural, etc. in a war situation.
5. Popular groups: realism, insurgency, autonomy.

communications may be submitted to the various symposia. Interested send your proposal, a brief summary and a brief CV by 1 September to the Congress Secretariat. They have more than 15 pages, including notes, charts, graphs, images and / or literature.
The papers will be reviewed by the scientific committee who shall notify its acceptance or rejection of the stakeholders.
